Form 26AS is now automatically imported for all the returns prepared at TaxSpanner.com. You do not need to download your Form 26AS separately. TaxSpanner servers automatically fetch your 26AS data from Income tax department.

Import of Form 26AS data from the I-T department database is important because all the transactions in the ITD database are under the lens of scrutiny by them. Form 26AS contains the complete tax information (TDS, TCS, refund, etc.) associated with your PAN as available in the ITD database. Any missing information in the return as compared to Form 26AS will surely lead to a notice from the department.

Once you enter your personal information and password for Income Tax Department website, the servers will import the transactions available against your PAN in the I-T department's database. Then depending on your answers to a few questions, our system will automatically generate the correct ITR form for you.

There are two options to import and view Form 26AS data in your return at TaxSpanner:

Option 1:

Click on ‘Start with PAN’ tab available on the left hand side navigation panel on your dashboard. Check on the ‘Import Form 26AS Data’ feature and fill in some personal details.

Option 2:

Once you are inside your return, you can access the ‘Form 26AS Data’ tab at the left hand side navigation panel on the ‘Profile’ page.

Only part of the data fetched gets populated automatically into your ITR. Specifically, income values are not populated, and need to be manually entered in the ITR.

You can download PDF available inside your return so that you can then refer to this pdf to manually enter the required values into relevant sections of your ITR. Password to open the PDF is your Date of Birth in ddmmyyyy format.
